Making a Model Purchase

There is a wide variety of models available at fairs and in online markets to suit your needs. There are different types of models, ranging from origami to remote-controlled boats, from houses to sculptures. They cover the miniature and reproduction figurine industry.

How to Choose and Buy a Model?

It's important to note that models have different features to serve different purposes. You can use them for design, simulation, or commercial purposes. If you intend to use them for entertainment and collecting purposes, you can purchase wooden models. However, if you work as an architect, it's advisable to consult with a model artist to create a customized model.

When purchasing your model, it's best to view a 3D visualization of the model to confirm its size and completeness. Most models are either white or have the color that the material defaults to. In these cases, you should be aware that additional steps might be needed to finish your desired model.

Finding a Model Artist to Collaborate With

There are freelance model artists or model companies. When making a model purchase, two aspects need to be considered: time and budget constraints. Make sure to review the model artist's portfolio. Do you require modeling before the model is created? Should details like vegetation or figures be added? What kind of lighting will be used? Or what are the material costs?

Regardless of who you choose, prepare a specification document and maintain communication with the model artist throughout the entire process.
